ASSESSMENT OF YOUTUBE™ VIDEOS AS A PARENT INFORMATION SOURCE FOR TEETHING SYMPTOMS

Objectives:The aim of the study was to evaluate quality information provided by YouTube™ for parents searching about teething symptoms. Material-Methods:To simulate access from parents’ perspective, terms "teething symptoms and signs" were searched on YouTube™. To obtain a total 60 acceptable videos, 100 videos screened. Irrelevant advertisements, non-English duplicates, lasted greater than 15 min excluded. General video assessment included ownership, age, number comments, purpose references. Local systemic teething, duration treatment options also examined in videos. Global Quality Scale(GQS), DISCERN, viewers’ interaction, viewing rate calculated. Statistical analysis performed using SPSS Version 26. Results:Sixty three included. The had mean interaction index 1.36±3.39. 6915±18125 with range 0.7 115498. score GQS 2.98±1.1, DISCERN 1.03±0.89. layperson lesser healthcare professionals (p<0.05). mentioned 85.7% 58.7% them. Treatments 61.9% Conclusions: variable, but laypersons particularly poor. Reliable published childhealth will be good resource, especially who cannot reach health institutions due various reasons such as pandemic.
